For a long time I recommended my clients to focus only on one platform. Now only Substack seems to work as single platform. But who knows how long it will last.
Thanks for the guide, it's really very helpful! By the way, I recycle content between Medium, Substack, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube. I am trying to pull audience from Medium and Twitter and YouTube to Substack. I tried pulling crowd to my blogger blog and it did pull in the crowd, but, I got punished by google SEO and algorithms with a punishment sentence, " Meera, your articles are all over the place in different platforms, we don't appreciate replicated content!" Now, I'm wondering. had the punishment been not so hard, had I repurposed the content creatively, instead of copy pasting the content ,and thereby not getting the approval from adsense due to 'duplicate content' usage across Medium and Blogger Blogspot blog.
Anyways, I am thankful for your posts that's a real eye-opener!
I have checked what you say. You don't have to be everywhere. I tried my luck on Medium a year ago but when I realized there was no Spanish-speaking community, I decided it wasn't a suitable platform for me because I wasn't going to find my audience there. Now in Substack I am happy and growing every day.
I love Substack, I think everyone knows that by now. But not everyone writes newsletters or not everyone wants to be on just one platform. This is why practical advice like that in this issue, seasoned with fundamental experience, are fundamental.
Great insights… for all the love that Substack gets right now, all writers must acknowledge that the these platforms (including Substack) rise and fall.
The best benefit of Substack, to me, is the portability of the audience. So even if it doesn’t last forever, that’s okay.
Why not create several newsletters here?
Great advice! I like working with nature's wisdom. I wouldn't ever put all eggs in one basket. And change is the only constant in our lives.
If you write a Substack newsletter you can easily publish (parts of it) on medium. And some short posts I extract for LinkedIn and X.

Yes, there's a lot of nuance.
As regards SEO, on some platforms you can set a canonical link and avoid duplicate content alerts.
Someone says that adding a sentence like "this post originally appeared on" with the link to the original post also works.
Thanks for the suggestion
It seems like you've really found your groove here. I'm so happy for you!
Thank you!

Great!
Unfortunately, there is no Italian community. With about 60 million people speaking the language in the entire world, there's no critical mass.

Thanks. Practical advice is my mission!

True! No platform has offered this in the past.
Portability of followers not
Yes. It can be a good strategy now. But the overall message is to watch out and keep using platforms providing organic reach.
