Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences. I use Substack to reach my audience. Medium to grow and spread my way of thinking. And LinkedIn suits me for business reasons.
I would never put all apples in the same basket.
And you're right: organic reach on X is a joke. Doesn't worth the huge efforts anymore.
Thanks for sharing this. I first started on Medium. Found some of my favourite people over there talking about Substack. I came here and fell in love with the vibe. Made this my number one focus because I didn't see much traction in medium. The irony is once I started in Substack my medium blog started growing. Now I'm focusing on medium too, mostly I post repurposed content or short form post. I post on LinkedIn too mostly related to my business niche.
Substack: I’ve come quickly to appreciate this place and feel like it maximizes appreciation of writing/reading. The growth has improved since joining
LinkedIn: I feel as though this should be my #2 given my work-related content and network. But I’m not breaking through yet and have seen how the algorithm punishes my content.
Twitter: met a few interesting people, which may alone be worth it, but feels like a losing place to play.
I read this post many times in a row and now I'm beginning to understand why planning is so important before publishing. It's not just about creating content but also about the platforms that one publishes the content.
I am thinking of continuing on Medium , LinkedIn and Substack besides Twitter. I plan to use Medium to drive in the traffic to my Substack and as suggested by all gurus here, I aim to re-use/recycle/re-purpose content wisely and creatively to save to be more productive in the process. Wish me Luck ! 😀
Thank you so much, @Alberto Cabas Vidani, The Unstoppable creator, for sharing your thoughts and amazing ideas on how-to strategize and increase the quantity and quality to monetize your business and/or writing articles by simply restacking and republishing the article on different platforms. Which I am currently working on.
I apologize if my writing does not have a perfectly crafted and effective flow as your brilliant example of writing.
Hey Alberto, this is a great post! The reason I moved over from Medium to Substack is because the organic growth here is very good, PLUS it offers great avenues for writers to make genuine connections with each other. It also allows you to interact with your subscribers with other features rather than just emails. Thank you for posting :)
You're very welcome Alberto! I agree. The growth on here is definitely a bit more linear and certainly more consistent than Medium. Hopefully Substack continues this. Thank you for sharing! :)

What about the "unknown" platforms like ghost...?
As far as I know Ghost doesn't provide organic reach. It's a hosting platform for your blog and newsletter. Like WordPress.com or self-hosted.
Thanks for replying!

Wow. Good for you!
How's your short form content doing on Medium?
I posted one short content along with a repurposed long one. Short seems to be doing better. I need to try posting some more to find the pattern.
This is helpful as someone new to the game.

I'm not posting on LinkedIn but I helped my brother getting thousands of impressions per post.
What worked for him was always starting from a story related to his work
Thanks for the tip. Any posts you could link to that shows what worked? Any help is appreciated.
I wrote a whole report!

Really?
You read this more than once? It’s such a huge compliment for me! Thanks!
Which platform will you publish on?

I'm republishing old Medium articles on Substack, after editing them. I'm also republishing in the other direction.
Substack is bringing here far more visits, unless the article was originally Boosted on Medium.
Good luck!

Thanks a lot!
After my first month, I agree. Organic growth here seems more predictable. I hope it lasts.
I've made connections on Medium too. But the reach there is like a lottery.

My platforms change from time to time, but currently I use Medium, Substack, and Skool the most.
How do you deal with the cold start problem?
Every time you change platforms it can be hard to establish yourself.
Did you manage to migrate your audience?
Thanks to my newsletter I'm able to bring some of my audience to a new platform.
I focus on Medium & Substack and don't want to add another platform for now.
Interesting read :)
Many people are making this combination work.
If you mention your Substack publication everywhere on Medium, you should get a good flow of subscribers
