I gave up with X as I can't stand all the bitching and trolling that goes on there. But I do love it here at Substack, especially on notes! I try and touch base with my newsletters each day now.

The complaining on X is sad. I had upgraded to the 8 a month so that I had the blue check mark, but my engagement is very light. I'm drawn to remain there and couple it with Substack as I get going.

I love that you're a canine behaviorist! We're long-time dog rescuers, and came across a 6-month old Morky a woman was selling outside Walmart 9 years ago.

We were looking for one to train as my husband's service dog, and did well until he retrained us. 😜

I really love how you shared both the good and the bad. It was a good read. I enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.

I think you should come back to X, Alberto.

Dr. Donna is there:-)

I am on X, growing slowely but continuously and plan to stay on the platform.

I had several free consultations about breathing from some followers. People get qurious to learn.

I have a group of fellow creators, where we like and comment on each other’s posts almost daily.

It also helps with the algorithm and the growth.

There is “bitching about” side on the platform, and I don’t engage there; but there are also many quality accounts and people behind.

Honestly, there are so many repetitive Notes here on Substacks, that look like Intagram posts , and it’s also about growth on the platform.

I don’t mean your Notes,Alberto.

Thanks. This was not to say X is bad. I wanted to share the value of setting yourself a challenge.

I don't have time now for X. And I don't think I will ever be able to create an engagement pod. Without organic reach it's hard for me to consider it.

Yes, it’s very time consuming to be fully present and engaged on 2 or 3 platforms. I struggle with that right noe but I am confident I am finding a sustainable system to do it bettee.

Interesting. What does it look like?

I'm reading a great writer when I continually say to myself, "got it" "yep, you're right" "done that, too" " oh, yeah, gotta do that too!"

Even though I shied away from using the word challenge, I do respond well to accountability buddies.

I shall bookmark this (when I discover how to do that) and come back to reread and remind myself to stop waiting. Do something. Fail forward more often.

Thanks, Albert!

Thank you. There's a “save” feature. You can find it in the 3 dots menu. But its position may depend on the platform.

When sharing advice online, especially when it comes to platform growth or posting content, the negatives and 'failures' are often obscured and the positives are continually exalted. In these issues (and especially in this one) I have never found this dynamic: this honesty and transparency is something that pays and there is an increasing need, in my opinion, to give background to advice on how to grow or do certain things on platforms or online. Also, the challenge invitation is something I could take up too, thanks for sharing!

Great post. And I’m absolutely with you. Tried something similar and failed too. Super hard to grow organically at x nowadays.

Thanks for sharing this! Curious if when you say long form posts you mean the longer posts you can write with premium - or the old school “thread” style where you write a longer post in 140 character chunks?

I’ve found organic growth on X through the thread style - but it does take a decent amount of work. I share personal stories and struggles that I wrote exclusively for that purpose. As you say the quality has to be there - and I find you have to be pretty consistent with how often you post them as well!
