Your post is the perfect model for posting, Alberto! Period. And of course, your advice is spot on. šŸŽÆ

- you speak directly to one person

- your subheads flow

- you get to a point quickly

- you show valuable visuals

On top of that, you expose a weakness that makes you even more human.

Bravo, Alberto, and thank you for your effective, to-the-point guide šŸ¤—

Thanks.

Substack writers are always eager to collaborate. Guest posts just work.

You can write a guest post for my publication as Alberto did yesterday too. It's the summer of guest posts for my members ā¤ļø

It's not a zero sum game. Heard this from Evelyn Skye too. Here are so many opportunities and guest posting is one of them

Most successful writers share they started with guest posting.

One more idea: why not go beyond Substack if you have time to write and bring subscribers to your publication through guest posts on the web?

We'll talk with Elna Cain about this next month inside the Online Writing School.

I wonder what's the CTA at the bottom of your guest post? I first wanted to delete your two links to posts because it thought it would be smarter to tell them to subscribe.

At the buttom or on the side of every guest post people can read more about you and will get asked to subscribe.

In addition the people you're writing a guest post for will get asked to recommend your Substack.

So there are some marketing automatisms working on Substack you need to know

That's why it's smart you changed the text of your bio and make it more appealing.

If I were you I'd take the chance and also link to your latest guest posts from David and me and so on. Similar to Medium it's all about network effects. The bigger the network the better. Sharing, restacking, linking and commenting is super important.

Happy Saturday šŸŒžšŸŒŠāš“

I may have added the CTA to the initial draft you asked to put on Substack, not on the second one we put on Google Drive!

I really need to learn how to do this. I just feel so damn awkward asking people HEY can I write for you in hopes that we get some audience overlap? It just seems dirty to me. As social as I am I've never been very good at asking that kind of thing directly. However, I might give it a try as I start to build some relationships here on Substack. I appreciate this post as always and look forward to more.

Mmm, why does it make you feel dirty?

It isn't about stealing someone else's audience. It's about providing someone with a great article that can help their audience AND in the meantime attract more eyeballs to your publication.

Does this convince you?

Starting on Substack will make it easier, because many writers here want to collaborate.

But finding sites (also outside Substack) that already accept guest posts will make it even easier.

In my head I know it's not about stealing anyone's' audience. However, I feel like that's what I'm trying to do. I think the mindset came from streaming and when I did that I always felt like self-promotion was a terrible word. Guest post to some degree fall into that so I always feel odd asking someone to let me do it. On the flip side I'll turn around and offer someone a spot on my bench usually with no problem.

I also think there's that intimidation factor of sorts. I'm smaller in terms of fish in the pond, so If I allow you to come here, I'm not taking anything away from you, but hopefully you're brining them with you kind of thought process. I know the whole thing is probably weird, broken, and a little goofy, but that's what my brain does.

I agree that our brains and bodies have their own will.

It may be helpful to focus on what you're offering to the audience. You are just writing another article. And doing it as best you can.

As regards the audience size, the site hosting your article know when you're smaller. If they agree, everything is ok.

Do you have an online friend that can help you break the ice?
