Medium is moving in the wrong direction now. Substack is the way to go. But the recurring revenue on this platform has a price tag too - it's harder to convince people to pay you.
I'm considering creating mini books, or mini video courses, put them through Gumroad, and sell them to my subscribers as one-off payments. Meanwhile, I can still include them in my paid subscription.
For example in my writing business, I ask where do I want to focus my attention for the month ahead? What do I want to prioritize?

I will always be open to new things and changes but these are my focus areas for that month. If something comes along that I want to add to my list or change, I aim to wait until the end of the month and then review my time availability and decide where I want to focus for the following month.

Subscriptions are the hardest thing to sell.

I loved reading this. I am a big fan of goals but I know they can be limiting and there is a time to let go of them.
I set goals but like you, the path to achieving them can change.
I have monthly areas of focus. I review these each month and shift focus where needed.

I have the opposite problem: I need to allow myself to get sidetracked to discover new opportunities!
